Thanking you is the least thing when I think about how much you’ve done for me all your life. Thank you Mama!

Professional or personal interests were not superficial to you. You have given up a lot in order to devote yourself entirely to me and my upbringing. My gratitude is small compared to all the advice you gave me when I didn’t want to hear.

Thank you mom, thank you a million! For directing my stubborn being on the right path. I could have done more if I’d listened to you. But I am extremely happy with the accomplishments I made with your help.

Thank you Mama!

I remember that in my childhood you spoke to me for many hours about my fears, problems, needs and doubts that I had then.

Thank you mom for all your advice!

You always had good advice for me. You knew me very well and you could always find the right words at the right moment.

I also remember  that my dreams and desires mostly did not correspond to your educational goals and experiences. You had to allow me to experience certain things myself in order to become aware of many things.

That girl who hit puberty at 14 wanted anything but follow you or listen to your words. She was too big and too “mature”, wanted to know everything better herself and make her own decisions.

20 years ago you said a lot of things to me that I didn’t even want to hear:

Don’t waste time with your friends, learn!

Prepare for the future to be successful! Do a degree that you enjoy in order to be prepared for the world of work. Choose what you like best.

Thank you mom for all of your efforts

Take your time with a love affair

Now, when I remember those words, I think that others would have criticized you at the time for speaking to your daughter like that. Times were different! But you were always right. Like many other girls when I was just under 14, I fell in love early on.

We dreamed of big, handsome boys, of more independence. You knew exactly what it was about and why you gave me this advice.

Better choose your circle of friends!

I was angry when you criticized my friends and you told me that they weren’t true friendships. Your advice was  not to trust them and not to reveal any secrets.

My wish was to leave the house and live with them in a shared apartment. Fortunately, that wasn’t possible. Because then I would never have realized how right you were!

Thank you mom for all the things you said to me that I didn’t want to hear

  • “I love you more than anything in the world. Everything I tell you and everything I do is for your benefit. “
  • “If you listen to me, you will go far. Do not forget that I speak from experience and have already experienced everything that lies ahead of you. “

Thank you Mama! Today I can thank you for all of your advice that I didn’t want to hear back then. Also for everything you asked of me and for the consequences and measures you had to take to raise me.

mother and daughter

But I had time to think about everything. The stubborn youngster has meanwhile grown into a young woman. It is thanks to you that I have a university degree. Actually, you deserve it, not me.

I owe you the comfortable life that I can now lead. Only with the job that I have now can I enjoy my family life, finance my freedom and use my free time.

I also owe my solid and wonderful  relationship with my partner to you. Because you raised me with love, trust and respect, on which my love relationship is based.

You told me a thousand times about a mother’s love. But only now that I am a mother myself have I realized what that actually means.

I wish that my daughter doesn’t give me the same headaches in her youth as I do for you. But if it comes to that, I will have the patience and courage to give her the best advice.

Fortunately, I also have your help with this so that I don’t have to face this great task alone. Thank you mom for everything you’ve done for me!
